The National Performing Arts Center (NPAC) held a handover ceremony on April 2 to mark the commencement of its fourth-term Board of Directors and Supervisors. The ceremony, witnessed by Minister of Culture Yuan Li, officially introduced the new leadership that will guide Taiwan’s three national performing arts venues and National Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan Philharmonic).

According to the organization’s regulations, board members are nominated by the Ministry of Culture and appointed by the Premier of the Executive Yuan for a four-year term. Following the conclusion of the third-term board's tenure, the new board has been established with Chyi-Wen Yang serving as the Chairperson.

During the event, Minister Yuan Li expressed his gratitude to outgoing Chairperson Henry Kao and the third-term board for their dedication. He noted that the new board members bring together expertise from the performing arts, cultural education, and business management. He encouraged them to continue advancing the development of Taiwan’s performing arts sector based on the foundation already in place.

Chairperson Chyi-Wen Yang stated that NPAC will continue to play a key role in Taiwan’s cultural growth. Under his leadership, the center will focus on performance production, international engagement, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. He also emphasized the importance of connecting the arts with education and society, while fostering the development of professional talent.

Following the handover, Chairperson Yang, with the board's approval, confirmed the appointments of the General and Artistic Directors for the three national venues. Ms. Joyce Chiou will lead the National Theater and Concert Hall, Ms. Lee Huey-Mei will head the National Taichung Theater, and Mr. CHIEN Wen-pin will lead the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying).

Their terms are set to officially begin on April 16. The directors will lead their respective professional teams in managing the daily operations of the national venues and will work toward further enriching Taiwan’s performing arts landscape.
